Product code: RS0021704Thanks to its courage, ingenuity and donors, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution has continued to grow over the last two centuries, saving more than 144,000 lives. In honour of the 200th anniversary of the RNLI, the charity is being celebrated on a UK coin.
Since the origins of the charity in 1824 at the City of London Tavern, the RNLI has been saving lives at sea and on lakes and rivers, constantly striving towards its goal ‘to save every one’.
This silver Proof Piedfort coin features a brand-new design by experienced coinage artist John Bergdahl, the reverse displays the RNLI flag surrounded by a life ring bearing the exceptional 200-year anniversary the charity has reached. The obverse of the coin features the official coinage portrait of His Majesty The King, created by Martin Jennings.
Double the thickness and weight of their traditional counterparts, Proof Piedfort editions of coins are intrinsically higher in value than their Proof equivalents. Proof coins are amongst the finest commemorative coins produced by The Royal Mint. Made with the highest care and consideration.
