Proudly wearing a yellow sou’wester and a cork lifejacket, this hand-crafted duck is inspired by our rich heritage.

In 1854, RNLI Inspector, Captain Ward, made lifesaving history with his new design of cork lifejacket – which was the first lifejacket ever to be issued to lifeboat crew members. While they were bulky, they floated well, were durable and, most importantly, crew members liked them – and we think our flat-billed friend here likes them, too!

This charming wooden duck has been carved from sustainable bamboo roots, then carefully painted and moulded by hand. Each figure is unique and comes with a name tag.

  • For display indoors
  • Each figure is unique
  • Every DCUK piece is carved by hand, using locally harvested bamboo offcuts that would otherwise go to waste

Please note: Each DCUK bird is handmade, so the colour of the wood and detailing may vary slightly from the image shown.
