About the author
Grant McKee is a freelance TV producer based in York and Staithes. His career in
journalism began at the Yorkshire Post and at Yorkshire Television he became Head of Programmes. His nephew James Austin was a helmsman on the Staithes lifeboat. At the time of writing, Grant is the Lifeboat Press Officer at Staithes and Runswick.
