About the authors

JOHN PERIAM is an established nautical photojournalist with over 500 features published.He is a regional correspondent (covering the south east of England) for Fishing News andauthor of ebook Shelley the Lifeboat Labrador. John was a helper, then a crew member atShoreham Harbour during the 1980s, and still retains links to the station. Many of John'sphotos have been used by the RNLI, one was made into a Royal Mail postage stamp andanother in a book published by HRH Prince Charles's Clarence House Team.

MICHELLE TUGWELL started her 'career' with Shoreham Harbour lifeboat as the wife ofSecond Coxswain and Second Mechanic Simon. She then became volunteer lifeboat stationadministration officer and later press officer, and was heavily involved in Shoreham's lastlifeboat appeal and 150th anniversary celebrations in 2015. Michelle was a local newspaperjournalist for many years and is now a media relations offi cer for the Sussex Police. Herhusband's family have a long history of involvement with Shoreham Harbour LifeboatStation, which Michelle pretty much thinks of as her second home.
