About the authors
JOHN PERIAM is an established nautical photojournalist with over 500 features published. He is a regional correspondent (covering the south east of England) for Fishing News and author of ebook Shelley the Lifeboat Labrador. John was a helper, then a crew member at Shoreham Harbour during the 1980s, and still retains links to the station. Many of John’s photos have been used by the RNLI, one was made into a Royal Mail postage stamp and another in a book published by HRH Prince Charles’s Clarence House Team.
MICHELLE TUGWELL started her ‘career’ with Shoreham Harbour lifeboat as the wife of Second Coxswain and Second Mechanic Simon. She then became volunteer lifeboat station administration officer and later press offi cer, and was heavily involved in Shoreham’s last lifeboat appeal and 150th anniversary celebrations in 2015. Michelle was a local newspaper journalist for many years and is now a media relations offi cer for the Sussex Police. Her husband’s family have a long history of involvement with Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Station, which Michelle pretty much thinks of as her second home.
